The Murmur of Dynamic Subortic Stenosis Recognition Through A Novel Graphic Display

چکیده

Background: Dynamic subaortic stenosis occurs in differing situations, commonly with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Regardless of the underlying cause, the resulting murmurs usually possess a characteristic sound spectral pattern, manifesting a sharp and high frequency peak occurring late in systole, often bearing a striking resemblance to the subaortic Doppler flow pattern. Methods: Murmurs found in thirty one subjects with dynamic subaortic stenosis were analyzed after having been recorded with a novel portable device capable of spectral and waveform sound displays. Results: All subjects manifested characteristic frequency patterns, consisting of high and sharp peaks occurring in late systole. With significant subaortic stenosis (resting subaortic flow velocity > 2 m/sec) this pattern was evident at rest. In the presence of little or no resting subaortic obstruction (<2 m/sec) this pattern was produced regularly by the Valsalva maneuver. Conclusions: Dynamic subaortic stenosis produces a specific sound spectral pattern that may provide a basis for clinical evaluation, especially in early detection of this disorder and in screening situations.

Determining the Proper compression Algorithm for Biomedical Signals and Design of an Optimum Graphic System to Display Them (TECHNICAL NOTES)

In this paper the need for employing a data reduction algorithm in using digital graphic systems to display biomedical signals is firstly addressed and then, some such algorithms are compared from different points of view (such as complexity, real time feasibility, etc.). Subsequently, it is concluded that Turning Point algorithm can be a suitable one for real time implementation on a microproc...

Murmur alternans in aortic stenosis.

Acquired aortic stenosis, when severe, often gives rise to pulsus alternans.' Other relatively common causes for pulsus alternans include hypertensive heart disease, coronary artery disease, syphilitic heart disease and cardi~myopathy.~ When pulsus alternans is present, the clinician can usually appreciate it through the use of a sphygmomanometer, in which case when the cuff is infiated to near...

A survey on the prevalence of heart murmurs in polo horses

Background: Cardiac murmur and subsequently cardiac failure is one of the poor-performance causes in athletic horses. Attention to murmur character is vital during heart examination. Polo is a sport which demands very high stress on horses, which may result in more stress on cardiovascular system. Objectives: In this study we assume that high pressure on polo horses makes them more susceptible ...

Identification of a Novel Tumor-Binding Peptide for Lung Cancer Through in-vitro Panning

Tumor-targeted therapies are playing growing roles in cancer research. The exploitation of these powerful therapeutic modalities largely depends on the discovery of tumor-targeting ligands. Phage display has proven a promising high throughput screening tool for the identification of novel specific peptides with high binding affinity to cancer cells. In the present study, we describe the use of ...
